I can’t tell if this is funny because of the phenomenon, or funny because of the reportage.

Maids are the new hot thing in Akihabara right now. (Link from Japan Probe)

The tv host’s enunciation of “otaku” in the first video alone is worth my weight in gold – like Stone Phillips met Tom Jones and had to pretend he weren’t an “otaku” himself.

    The strange thing is, that host has perfect Japanese and works as a DJ/announcer on various radio and TV programs. He also interviews western musicians when they visit Japan. I guess he switches into English pronunciation mode when he does that particular show.
