Keiko Takemiya in Santa Monica and Portland

Before I forget (as if I could–I’m flying there with her), I’d like to announce that TO TERRA… and ANDROMEDA STORIES manga artist Keiko Takemiya will not only be appearing at the Santa Monica Barnes and Noble on September 15th as mentioned here, but she will ALSO be appearing in Portland at Powell’s on Hawthorne, 3723 SE Hawthorne Blvd., Monday, Sept. 17th at 7:30 pm. Two chances on the West Coast to meet one of the pioneering legends of manga. Are we good to you or what?

Mrrrf. Please bring her to New York City! Please?

Will you be having her sing extra copies that you could sell on your website, maybe? I would love a signed copy but can’t afford airfare to the west coast to get one.

Unfortunately she’s too busy with her teaching schedule at Kyoto Seika University to make her trip any longer than it already is, so a trip to the East Coast isn’t possible this time around.

However, there’s a chance that the new Japanese animated television series based on To Terra is going to be brought to the United States, and if that happens she’ll probably (or maybe I should say “hopefully”) make another trip to this country to promote it.

As far as selling signed copies on our website goes, it’s not a bad idea but probably the only fair way to do it would be by auction and we’re too busy publishing books to start doing stuff like that. Barnes and Noble in Santa Monica and Powell’s on Hawthorne in Portland both have signed copies in stock. If you have friends in LA or Portland I’d ask them to drop by, pick up a copy, and send it to you.

Kerim: The show already got licensed, actually.

I know: a producer at the company that licensed it was at the Santa Monica signing. I just don’t like saying that things definitely ARE going to happen until I’m certain. I know from experience that companies sometimes license things that then don’t actually see the light of day.
