Buddha by Osamu Tezuka continues to garner wonderful reviews left and right, most recently in The Comics Journal, where Buddha Vols. 1 & 2 were on the list for Best of 2003. Gary Groth, co-founder and editor-in chief of The Comics Journal had this to say:
“The English language publication of Osamu Tezuka’s Buddha is a landmark publishing event in comics.”
ForeWord magazine has also proclaimed Buddha‘s excellence and has nominated it for best graphic novel. Outpost, a Canadian travel magazine, has listed Buddha on their “Best Of” list, and The Washington Post will be doing a round-up review of Buddha Vols. 1—4 shortly. Also stay tuned to The Onion A.V. Club, which will feature an interview with Vertical art director Chip Kidd, and full review of Buddha vols. 1—3.
